Varsity: Area Tournament Information

Below is the area tournament bracket information. If we beat Prince Avenue this evening, we will most assuredly be the #1 seed going into the tournament, which means we will play at Jefferson High School on both Thursday and Saturday.

Please note that we will have an early release next Thursday. The tentative plan is to be released at 12:55 and go to a pre-game lunch at Olive Garden before going to Jefferson for pre-game warm-up and match play. All of this will hinge on officially finishing the regular season of area this evening and then working with the school to get approval.

But, since my departure is imminent, I wanted to give you a preliminary head's up. Coach Ezernack will assume official coaching responsibilities from a faculty standpoint and Kitty and Kat will also continue to be helping as well. Kitty will make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible while I am away!

So, please download this file to view the schedule for the area tourney.

I trust you guys are ready to reclaim the Area Championship for Athens Academy, with or without me!!!!

VARSITY: Northview Playday

Hi team:

Here is some updated information about our playday against Northview on Saturday. We will play four matches - pretty much back-to-back with a short lunch break. This means it will be a short, but intense day. It looks to be some great competition and a good challenge for us.

For the schedule of the day, please download the following document:

We will leave the Spartan Center Parking Lot at 6:30 AM on Saturday morning. We will stop in Lawrenceville to get some Chick-Fil-A for breakfast, so bring some spending money. Hopefully, we will return to the school by 3:30ish.

I will be following the bus by car just in case Nicholas decides to come early, so Mr. Otis will be driving the bus. He will also be driving the bus back to the academy after the playday. Again, I will trail the bus in a car on the way home.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Varsity: Play for the Cure

The Varsity team will participate in the Play for the Cure playday at Heritage High School on Saturday, August 23rd. Proceeds from this playday will support the Susan G. Komen Foundation, whose promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

This promise was made by Nancy G. Brinker, as she promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

During the 2007 Georgia High School Volleyball Season, Harrison High School began a local effort using volleyball as a vehicle to raise monies for this to support the end to this horrible disease affecting women's health. The Varsity team will need to arrive at the Spartan Center at 7:30 am on Saturday morning. We will stop at Chick-Fil-A near Interstate 20 in Conyers prior to our arrival at Heritage High School. We will play six matches during the day, spanning from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. For a detailed schedule of events, please download the following document.
