This afternoon the Lady Spartans took on Lincoln County at home and won in less than an hour. Caroline Doherty won 6-1, 6-0 at one singles. Rhea Chatterjee won 6-0, 6-0 at two singles. Elizabeth Sinyard and Kendall Santamaria won 6-0, 6-0 at one doubles. The other matches did not get to finish.
The Spartans will play their second round against either Pace or Darlington early next week.
Monday, April 16th the Spartans traveled to Young Harris College to compete in the first rounds of the Region 8A Tournament. They played Commerce first round and were up 3-0 when they were pulled off the courts. Caroline Doherty won 6-0, 6-0 at one singles, Kendall Santamaria and Conley Messer won 6-0, 6-1 at one doubles, and Caroline Fenno and Dakota Williams won 6-2, 6-2 at two doubles. In the semifinals the Spartans rematched George Walton and were pulled off the courts when they were up 3-0. Caroline Doherty won 6-2, 6-3 at one singles, Rhea Chatterjee won 6-2, 6-2 at two singles, and Elizabeth Sinyard and Kendall Santamaria won 6-2, 6-4 at one doubles.
Tuesday, April 17th the Lady Spartans played Prince Avenue Christian School at home in the finals. Again, they were pulled off the court when they were up 3-0. Kendall Santamaria and Elizabeth Sinyard were first off the court winning 6-0, 6-0 at one doubles. They were soon followed by Rhea Chatterjee winning 6-0, 6-1 at two singles. Caroline Doherty closed it out winning 6-3, 6-3 at one singles.
The Lady Spartans came up against some tough opponents from larger schools. They came up against Northview in the first round and were down 3-0 when they were pulled off the courts. They played GACS in the second round and lost 3-2 after losing to them 4-1 earlier in the season. They had tough matches, but it was good preparation for their region tournament.
Wednesday, April 11th the Lady Spartans traveled to Madison County High School for their final match of the regular season. They won 4-1. Caroline Doherty won 6-0, 6-1 at one singles. Rhea Chatterjee won 6-4, 6-0 at two singles. Melissa Corry won 6-0, 6-0 at three singles. Dakota Williams and Elizabeth Sinyard won 7-5, 6-4 at two doubles. This weekend the Lady Spartans will play in the Buckhead Rotary.
The Lady Spartans traveled to Hebron Christian today for their final region match of the regular season. Doherty won 6-2, 6-2 at one singles. Chatterjee won 6-2, 6-1 at two singles. Corry won 6-0, 6-1 at three singles. Santamaria and Sinyard won 6-1, 6-2 at one doubles. Fenno and Messer won 6-2, 6-1 at two doubles. Athens Academy closes the AA sub-region undefeated and will be the one seed at region next Monday. The Spartans will travel to Madison County on Wednesday for their final regular season match.
Tuesday, April 3rd the Spartans traveled to Morgan County. Caroline Doherty won 6-0, 6-0 at one singles, Rhea Chatterjee won 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 at two singles, Melissa Corry won 6-2, 6-1 at three singles, Elizabeth Sinyard and Kendall Santamaria won 6-1, 6-0 at one doubles, and Anna Justice and Conley Messer won 6-3, 6-1 at two doubles. The Lady Spartans will travel to Hebron for a rescheduled match on Monday.
Monday, April 2nd the Lady Spartans played Wesleyan for their final home match of the season. The Spartans lost 4-1, but every match was close. Two of those matches were lost in third set tiebreakers. Anna Justice and Conley Messer won their match 6-4, 0-6, 10-6 at two doubles. One doubles lost their match 12-10 in the third set tiebreaker and three singles lost 10-4 in a third set tiebreaker.
