Varsity and JV Parent/ Player Packet

Girls Soccer 2010: Information, Procedures, and Policies

Practice:

The first day of practice allowed by the GHSA is Monday, Feb 1. We will be training from 4:30-6:00pm daily with JV and varsity players together. We will evaluate the players during the first week to determine whether players will be assigned to varsity or junior varsity teams. Please note that these assignments are not fixed in stone. There may be juniors, sophomores and freshmen with the junior varsity team.
We will use the Spartan Center locker room to change and shower before and after training (Spartan Center also for games). Students are responsible to use the stations provided to secure their laptops during practice time. We will also use the track house parking lot as the pickup area for students who do not drive themselves. Pick-up will be between 6:15 and 6:30pm after practices. Please be prompt.

Equipment for practice:

I would request that these be mandatory items EVERY DAY for the comfort and safety of the players. In case of inclement weather, we will try to train indoors. It is also very cold, especially early in the season, so a warm-up or sweat shirt is mandatory.

1. Soccer Cleats
2. Shin Guards
3. Soccer socks ( they must cover the shin guards)
4. Shorts and White T-Shirt (long or short sleeve)
5. Sweat shirt or warm-up top
6. Water bottle
7. Tennis shoes or soccer flats ( daily, especially after the conclusion of basketball…we need to be able to train indoors)
8. We will wear white shorts in matches. Sliding shorts or spandex are encouraged if players or parents have modesty concerns.

Attendance Policies:

Being a school athletic team, academics are our main priority, therefore our training time will not infringe on tutorial time. Attendance at training sessions is mandatory. Obviously illness and medical appointments are reasonable reasons to miss practice, but soccer should be your priority during our season. If conflicts arise which would cause you to miss mandatory events (e.g. training or matches) these should be discussed with the coaching staff well in advance of the conflict. This will avoid any miscommunications and interventions which could effect playing time and team membership status. If you are in doubt please ask me! Please note that we play matches during the Friday night of the school’s Easter break.
