Since the Spring sports meeting there have been quite a few boys who have expressed interest in playing soccer. Although this can be a good thing, it poses a difficult situation in getting each player equal playing time throughout the season and also remain competitive within a ten game season. I spoke with all players interested last week and suggested that those who had doubts about soccer should consider other spring sport options. As of yesterday’s practice, there were 23 boys in attendance. This does not include those that were absent due to the play. Monday’s practice seemed be more of an assessment of numbers. In total I am expecting 28 players.
Unfortunately, we will need to hold a tryout that reduces the team to 16. In fairness to all, we would not hold a tryout until next Tuesday, Feb. 17 - Thursday, Feb. 19. I have to consider those that can not attend practice due to the middle school play. We have student led conferences this Wednesday and the play on Friday. Monday is a student holiday.
I apologize for the confusion, especially after stating at the Spring sports night meeting that we would not need to hold a tryout. Please understand that I am acting with the best interest of the students and their experience. Do not hesitate to contact me with further questions.
