Information on Thursday's Match against Eastside & Morgan Co.

Congratulations to the boy's JV team for defeating the Oconee Co.'s JV boy's team yesterday at Lane Creek Golf Course. Coach Hilimire advised that Edward, Christian, Gil, and Jack played very well. Just so you know, she called the scores into the Banner-Herald, but I guess they decided not to print it.

The Banner-Herald selected Amanda Kittle as Honorable Mention for athlete of the week in leading the girls to Athens Academy's 1st victory for girls golf. I did not call them after they erroneously reported the score as a 9-hole match instead of 6, but I was still happy to see recognition for Amanda's efforts. I hope to see more girls getting after it on the practice range and in matches!

For this Thursday, I will be taking as many boy's and girl's varsity to play at the new Long Shadow Golf Course in Madison to compete against Morgan Co and AAAA Eastside. I've heard great things about this course, especially the club pro, Mr. Ed Hoard. The weather forecast is great; mostly sunny, 5 mph winds, 71°.

Many of you have requested time to hit practice balls before playing in matches. To do this, we must leave campus ASAP after school. I will have the mini-van parked in the Science & Art building parking lot at 3:00. Students who do not have class should bring their bags and get on the bus NLT 3:05. Other students should leave their bags at the Tillman Center at lunchtime. I will load the bags on the mini-van so that all you have to do is leave class immediately and RUN to board the bus at the end of the day. Wear your uniforms to school so that we don't have to wait for changing! Boys should wear green shirts and girls should wear a white polo. All should wear khaki pants (girls only can wear skirts).

Teams will be announced tomorrow in another email after discussions with Coach Hilimire.
