Practice – Practice will begin on Feb. 1st and will be held from 4:15PM to 6:30PM on most weekdays. We will try to give advance notice on weekend practices or any special days during the week. Occasionally, we will give a day off during the week if we are going to practice or play on the weekend.
Weather - Unfortunately, rain can play a big factor in the practice schedule for spring sports. We have three options when it rains: practice inside (if a gym is available), weight room, or cancel practice. We will try to give you as much notice as we can. Game decisions are usually made before 1:00PM.

Commitment – We expect players to be at practice each day and to attend all game responsibilities. We further expect them to be leaders on campus. We remind you that students must participate in all areas of their day to be eligible for practices or games. Students that arrive at school late must contact Mr. Sears to determine if they will be able to participate in baseball that day. When a player misses a game (unexcused absence), he must sit out the next game. Please let a coach know if a problem exists (via phone or email).
• The coaching staff will determine if an absence is excused or not.

Spring Break – This season, we will be making our traditional spring break trip to Hilton Head. We will be leaving for Hilton Head on Friday, March 11th and returning on Monday, March 14th. We will play one varsity and one sub varsity game on this trip. The trip is required for all varsity players and we would really like for all junior varsity players to go as well. We do understand and appreciate the sacrifices we are asking you to make for your son. The progress we are able to make over the spring break week may be a key to our season.
Team Gatherings – We believe that togetherness is very important for team success. We may arrange for some team dinners for the varsity team during the season.
Promptness/ Attitude – We feel that is very important for our players to have a sense of responsibility and respect for their teammates. We ask that students arrive before the time deadline established for each game, practice, and bus trip. Students who are unable to make time deadlines will be subject to team disciplinary policies. We are working with all the students in becoming the best teammate and player that they can be. We therefore expect respect from the players at all times (for the coaching staff, opponents, officials, teammates, faculty, and parents). Players not demonstrating this positive attitude will be subject to team disciplinary policies. We encourage any player to ask questions of the coaching staff when they are concerned, but to remember that we will always try to do what is best for the student and the team within the stated policies of the school. Please see “The Key: Working Together”.
Uniform – At the end of the season your son is responsible for any lost or misplaced uniforms.
Medical Issues – Students must have a physical on file in the athletic office.
Team Selection – This season we will be fielding junior varsity and varsity teams. The teams will be split during the month of February after the boys have practiced for a couple of weeks. Boys may play on either team (with the exception of seniors) and, in fact, may participate on both teams during the course of the season. In selecting the teams we are trying to determine the playing situation which will best contribute to the success of the team and the development of the player. Player improvement, hustle, attitude, attendance, and team need are all areas which will allow for adjustments to be made after the season has begun. We try when ever possible to place players in an environment where they will have the best opportunity to flourish. Playing time is earned through daily performance and the game situation, and team needs. Players who have questions about their position on the team or team assignment are encouraged to meet with the coaching staff to discuss opportunities for improvement.

Leadership – In addition to trying our hardest to be the best baseball team we can be, we will be working equally as hard to be the best people we can be. Our goals will to improve in things such as honesty, trustworthiness, caring, commitment, listening skills, holding others accountable, respecting others, encouraging and appreciating others, and positive attitudes.

We are extremely excited about the 2011 season!
