U.S. Congressman Paul Broun -- Art Competition

U.S. Congressman Paul Broun, M.D.

Invites Students to Participate in Art Competition

“An Artistic Discovery” Artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year

AUGUSTA, GA- U.S. Congressman Paul Broun, M.D. today announced that high school students in the 10th Congressional District are invited to participate in the 2008 Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery. Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The art competition will culminate at a reception in Washington D.C. where the winning artwork will be showcased for one year in the Cannon tunnel that leads into the U.S. Capitol.

“I invite all students in grades 9 through 12 to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to display their artwork in a national exhibit,” said Broun. “The Artistic Discovery Contest is a wonderful way for me to recognize our high school students’ artistic abilities and encourage them to accomplish their goals. By celebrating art, we can encourage creativity, imagination, and help boost the self esteem of our young people.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

High school students who wish to participate in the Artistic Discovery Contest may visit http://www.house.gov/house/ArtGuidelines.shtml to read and print the Competition Guidelines and the Student Release Form. The release form and artwork must be delivered to Congressman Broun’s Augusta/Evans office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5. Non-postal deliveries, such as FedEx and UPS, or entries made in person should be delivered to 4246 Washington Road, Suite 6, Evans Georgia 30809.
