Topic:

You are the Secretary General of the United Nations in 2006. As part of your job, you must address the General Assembly of all 200 Member Countries each year in a speech called "The State of the World." As Secretary General, this is your opportunity to speak out to the entire world about the most important issues facing the international community of nations in 2006.

As you do every year, you choose three topics to address to the world. What would they be? Why are they the most important issues facing the nations of the world in 2006? What do you propose to do to address these issues? You may elaborate on just one topic or up to three topics.

Essay Length: 3 to 5 pages

First Place: $1000 Scholarship
Second Place: $500 Scholarship
Third Place: $250 Scholarship

Kennesaw State University Mathematics Competition for High School Students

Part I: Wednesday, November 8, 2006

Administered in a convenient 90 minute block of time during or after the school day at the students' own high schools. 25 multiple choice questions, ranging in difficulty, covering all levels of pre-calculus mathematics included in the Georgia state high school mathematics curriculum. Scored at Kennesaw State University.

Part II: Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Students scoring in the top 5% - 10% statewide on Part I will be invited to participate.

2006 Energy Bowl

Applications are now being accepted for the 2006 Jackson EMC Energy Bowl Compeition.

The winning student will receive the following:

a $1000 Scholarship
an all-expense paid trip as one of Jackson EMC's representatives on the Washington, D. C. Youth Tour, June 7 - 14, 2007 and
a $1000 Grant for the winning high school.
