Optimist International Essay Contest

Youth Essay Contest :: Open to all local students
The topic of this year’s Essay Contest is “How my Positive Outlook Benefits my Community.”

Youth Oratorical Contest :: Open to all local students

The topic of this year’s Oratorical Contest is “How my Optimism Helps me Overcome Obstacles.”
The Oratorical Contest will take place on a Saturday in late February (either Feb. 18 or 25).

Video Game Design

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to submit their original video game designs to the 2012 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

NY Life Award

Creative expression can be a powerful way to manage the grieving process. Teens in grades seven through twelve are encouraged to submit their works of art and writing that deal with loss and bereavement.
Six winners will receive a top prize of $1000 and will be show as part o an annual exhibition.

Charles Dickens Oral Interpretation Contest

High school students in grades eleven and twelve are invited to prepare and present via electronic means an oral presentation of a 4-5 minute selection from one of the approved works by Charles Dickens in celebration of his 200th birthday.
Grand prize winners and each of their teacher-coaches will receive a $1,000 cash prize and an all expense paid trip to London!
