Interim week is again around the corner. This year's interim week will be held during the week of September 12. Exciting things are once again planned for each grade. Specific information can be found on the website and will soon be mailed home. Please be on the lookout for it as it will contain forms that will need your attention.
Parents are invited (and encouraged) to attend the Upper School Parents' night on Thursday, August 26th at 7pm in the Presentation Hall. After a brief meeting there, parents will have the opportunity to meet with their children's advisor and teachers. While there will not be enough time to meet with teachers individually, it does provide the opportunity for parents and teachers to forge the relationship necessary to help the children. Further, teachers will be able to share with parents their expectations of the students. It is an important evening and one which I hope you can all attend.
On Wednesday, August 25th at 11am, the annual Upper School Club Draft Assembly will take place in the Presentation Hall. After club leaders present their plans for the year, the entire upper school community will enjoy a BBQ, hosted by the student council, in the amphitheater. During this time students will sign up for clubs in which they have an interest. It is important for students to sign up for clubs in which they will be ACTIVE participants. Signing up and then not being involved serves no purpose and offers no value.
Members of the class of 2011 and their parents should plan to attend SENIOR COLLEGE NIGHT on Monday, August 23rd at 7:30. Mrs. Pruitt and Mr. Stachura will lead a discussion that will facilitate learning about the college admissions process at Athens Academy. This is another step along the path to college admissions. It is a BIG step and this is why we ask that all seniors and at least one parent attend. The meeting will take place in the Presentation Hall.

The days are getting shorter, the time is drawing near, and the 2010-2011 school year will be here soon. If you are new to Upper School, please remember the MANDATORY Orientation Session scheduled for Wednesday, August 11th. Information regarding this event has already been mailed and more specific details regarding this important event will also be included in the back to school mailing scheduled to be sent on Wednesday, July 21st.
Each of you will also soon receive various forms that contain pertinent information, some which will need to be returned to your advisor on the first day of school, a copy of the daily schedule, which has been slightly altered for the 2010-2011 school year, and a copy of your finalized schedule. There will be lots of information coming your way so please do take the time to read it. For the meantime, enjoy these days.....they will pass quickly....
