Seniors Tapped for Cum Laude Society
In the nineteenth annual Cum Laude Society lecture and induction ceremony on April 19, fifteen members of the Class of 2007 were tapped for membership. As the secondary school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude recognizes superior academic achievement and sound character. Victoria Adams, Helena Anderson, Phil Brudney, Lucy Fu, David Hou, Tom Johnson, Matt Leonard, Brandon Lou, Carley Moore, Allison O’Rear, Surili Sheth, Trey Sinyard, Neeraj Sriram, Emily Westberry, and Chenzi Xu were each tapped for membership.
This year’s Cum Laude speaker was Dean Rebecca White, the J. Alton Hosch Professor of Law and Dean of the School of Law at the University of Georgia. Dean White is also the parent of Athens Academy alumni Brandon White ’02 and Maren White ’05.
In 1988, Athens Academy became the seventh school in Georgia to be chartered for Cum Laude. There are now eight chapters statewide.
