Ms.Thompson gives updates on Alumni in the Arts!

Migration to Los Angeles!
Three alums are making their way to Hollywood! After completing her Masters in Writing for the Screen and Stage at Northwestern University, Kendall Sherwood (Class of 2005) is moving from Chicago to LA this summer. She recently got a job working as a script coordinator/writer's assistant for the writers on TNT's "The Closer" with Kyra Sedgewick.
Also making the move to LA will be Mallory Moye (Class of 2005). Mallory has been a New York based actress for the past few years. She has done commercial/voice over work for DSW Shoes, Conair, and Olive Garden as well as numerous industrial films and stage productions.
Lauren Schacher (Class of 2003) will also be making the move from New York after closing a stage production of Stephen Metcalf's "Strange Snow" on Bowen Island, just outside Vancouver, BC Canada on July 17.
Kendall, Mallory and Lauren will be joining Athens Academy alum Powell Weaver, Shannon McClemore and Emily Callaway each living and working in the entertainment business in California. We wish these Spartans well!

Kate Stewart '08 Awarded at Davidson College

The Daniel Blain Woods Award was given to Kate Stewart, a rising senior at Davidson College in Premedical Studies. Kate combines the qualities of a good doctor - intelligence, technical skills, empathetic heart, and uplifting spirit. She is a biology major, compassionate, mature, and dedicated to her work. She has conducted research at the University of Georgia, volunteered at free clinics, and is a leader in her eating house, Rusk. Her leadership in the Premedical Honor Society (Alpha Epsilon Delta) has given the organization new energy and direction. Because of Kate's strong academic achievements, sense of community, compassion for humanity, and love of medicine, Kate was named this year's winner of the Daniel Blain Woods Award in Premedical Studies. Congratulations Kate!
